Day 1: London – Paris
Welcome to the highlights tour through Europe! Leaving London, we cross the English Channel and head for the French capital, regarded as a city of romance and style all over the world. Arriving in the afternoon in Paris we will go on a driving tour of the city led by your tour guide. Look out for famous attractions such as L’Opéra Garnier, Tuileries Gardens, Place de la Concorde, Hotel de Ville, the Seine River, Ile de la Cite, and the Louvre.
The most famous avenue, the Champs Elysees, overlooked by the famous Arc de Triomphe, will also give you a glimpse. Tomorrow is a day off, so take note of all the fun places you want to go! We’ll head out for dinner in the artists’ district of Montmartre after checking in at our hotel.
The menu features classic French cuisine such as chicken with fluffy Dauphinoise potatoes and bourguignon beef (a stew made from red wine). It also offers a vegetarian dish.
Day 2: Paris
Take the day to explore your own way through Paris. Paris has something for everyone, from the historic attractions, charming boutiques, boulevards, and cafes to the world-famous museums and galleries. There is the option of a cruise to the Eiffel Tower up the Seine River, and a visit to Montparnasse for an incredible view of the city.
Alternatively, see world-renowned works of art at the Louvre, travel to Versailles’ impressive palace or travel for the day to Disneyland. Alternatively, why not go to La Marais boutiques? Or visit the graves at Père Lachaise Cemetery of Oscar Wilde and Jim Morrison?
Those with a macabre palate can also descend to the notorious catacombs! Alternatively, remain on the ground and visit the museums, watch people from a café on the lane, or just walk through the area, following in the footsteps of great painters, musicians, and authors.
Day 3: Paris – Swiss Alps
We have an early start today as we head towards the Swiss Alps, with the aim of arriving late in the afternoon. We will stay tonight in a typical mountain village right in the heart of the Jungfrau area. One of the most visited locations in the Alps is a World Heritage site as well. Taking in the breathtaking scenery as we drive through the countryside in Switzerland-it ‘s popular for one reason!
You’ll have the chance to try a traditional meal-cheese fondue, while in the Swiss Alps. Melted cheese is served over a candle in a traditional pot (caquelon or fondue pot) and eaten in the cheese by dipping bread in.
Day 4: Swiss Alps
The day of witnessing the glory of the Swiss Alps is yours. Make sure to book a seat on the optional Jungfraujoch excursion (own expense), Europe’s highest train station, where you can also find a visitor’s center, lookout point and weather station.
The views are absolutely spectacular all the way up – don’t be shocked to find yourself pressed against the window of the train! When you’re at the top, take a look at the completely massive glacier and enjoy the snowy conditions throughout the year. This is one trip you will not soon forget; guaranteed to put your head in the clouds in every possible way!
Day 5: Swiss Alps – Pisa – Tuscany
We are bound for Italy! Enjoy more breathtaking mountain views as we travel across Switzerland and onto Pisa‘s iconic Leaning Tower! We move on to our accommodation in Tuscany, arriving in the late afternoon after some free time here (be sure to get the perfect photo!). Renowned for its beautiful scenery, fine food, and wine, Tuscany is guaranteed to be enthralling.
Day 6: Florence – Venice
We leave our accommodation in Tuscany this morning and make for a guided walking tour of the famous city of Florence. Read about the Medici’s history and see the Duomo and Piazza della Signoria, including David of Michelangelo. This is the cradle of the culture of the Renaissance-take it all in while you can! It is then Buon giorno Venice!
Venice is renowned for being one of the most romantic cities in the world. Spread over 118 islands, you’ll spend the afternoon finding out why this is such a must-see destination, with more works of art per square kilometer than anywhere else on earth! Tour the popular Rialto Bridge, St. Mark’s Square, Sighs Bridge, and the Doge‘s Palace. Afterward, drink an espresso, take a cruise on a gondola around the canals, or relax and watch the world pass in one of the many squares.
Day 7: Venice – Munich
We move on to Munich, the Bavarian capital, arriving for an orientation tour of the city in the late afternoon. Munich‘s apparent contradictions will delight the avid explorer, a city that exhibits both prosperity and a certain amount of comfort and coziness.
In Munich, you can find a variety of cultural hot spots along with new high-powered businesses, designer shopping districts, and elegant BMWs. Even with all its smart sophistication, Munich has a certain beauty that is irresistible to tourists.
Before dinner, enjoy a beer this evening in one of Munich‘s famous beer halls-a perfect way to complete the day. Prost!-Prost!
You’ll enjoy dinner tonight in a traditional beer hall. Typical German favorites include sauerkraut sausages, potato salad chicken, and sauerkraut potato dumplings (vegetarian option).
Day 8: Munich – Rhine Valley
We will soon leave our hotel in the Rhine Valley, where we will board a riverboat in Rhine Valley, and enjoy a refreshing drink on our complimentary cruise. From St Goar to Boppard, sail down the Rhine River to your hotel and enjoy the view as you pass.
This historic region boasts many castles, hills, vineyards, and German medieval cities. Why not take a relaxing stroll along the river this evening, after a delicious German dinner, or enjoy the hospitality of the locals?
German food is usually mischievous and hearty. You may have the opportunity to try saurkraut (fermented cabbage), sauerbraten (beef sausages marinated in vinegar before cooking), or schweinbraten (beer roast pork, usually wheat beer) at dinner this evening. There will be a vegetarian alternative, too.
Day 9: Rhine Valley – Amsterdam
After breakfast, our journey continues as we drive into the Netherlands, first stop at a windmill, then enjoy a typical cheese-making demonstration after this short photo stop, and learn how to make the funkiest and quaint choices of footwear – the clog – before leaving for Amsterdam.
The Dutch cheese-making tradition goes all the way back to the Roman era. Typical Dutch varieties like Gouda, Edam, Maasdammer (a nutty cheese with large holes), Boerenkaas (raw milk cheese), goat’s cheese, smoked cheese, and Frisian clove cheese (made with cumin and cloves) can be tried at the cheese-making demonstration.
See the city float by as you sail along, and listen to your tour guide for tips and insightful insights into the city. These canals and huge harbor, reclaimed from the sea, give a truly unique way to see some of the highlights of the region. Why not join your tour guide afterward for a walking tour of the notorious Red Light Area? Explore the canals and Dam Square and enjoy your time in this fascinating place.
Day 10: Amsterdam – Bruges – London
Already the last day of your European tour! We bid farewell to Amsterdam after breakfast and make our way back to London via the Belgian city of Bruges.
Renowned for its beer, waffles, chocolate, and Moules et Frites, this is definitely a great place to be if your appetite is brought. An incredibly common medieval town with no lack of cobblestone streets, historic old churches, and elevated towers, this is a perfect town to visit and a decent place to pick up some last-minute souvenirs. It’s back to the coach for the final leg of our journey back to London, once you’ve had a look around.
