Manneken Pis is a pictorial bronze sculpture depicting a baby boy who urines into the fountain basin in Central Brussels, Belgium.
Manneken Pis was initially a well that had been an integral part since the 15th century in the former distribution of potable water.
The statue became increasingly important in urban life towards the end of the 17th century. He survived the Brussels bombings in 1695 as well. A precious good Manneken Pis enjoys an incessantly growing glory.
The employee of the City is Manneken Pis. On fixed dates 23 dressings will be scheduled and Manneken Pis will receive regularly new suits.
New costumes cannot be of an advertising, economic, political, or religious nature. Following the board’s approval, an official delivery ceremony is organized, and Manneken-Pis thanks the people for producing drinks or other beverages on some occasions. The new suit joins the wardrobe of the Brussels Museum.
