Malt Whisky Discovery Day Trip from Edinburgh
Edinburgh – Glengoyne – Loch Lomond – Deanston – Edinburgh
Come and experience Scotland’s Water of Life with visits to two fascinating distilleries right on the edge of the Scottish Highlands. Enjoy the beautiful scenery of Loch Lomond National Park between these visits.
This tour is for Scotch single malt whisky lovers and those who want to know more about our national drink. Discover the secrets behind making Scotland’s national drink, and the best variety of them all in particular: single malt whisky.
Your tour will take you west from Edinburgh past Stirling to visit Glengoyne’s first-day distillery, located at the foot of the Campsie Hills, providing water for whisky production. This tour will introduce you to the simple but magical process of transforming barley, water, and yeast into whisky.
From here we will take a scenic drive along Loch Lomond’s shores in the heart of Scotland’s first national park for a delicious pub lunch and a chance to sample some local beers.
After lunch, we recommend a short walk to the viewpoint overlooking the loch and all its islands before heading to Deanston’s second day’s distillery. This converted cotton mill on the banks of the Teith River has many interesting characteristics and produces some unique whisky flavors. We will return to Edinburgh after a relaxing afternoon visit here, arriving at the original meeting point at 6 Waterloo Place around 6:15 pm.
