7-Day Italy Highlights Tour Package: Venice to Rome
Itinerary
Day 1: Venice
Check in to your Venice Mestre hotel. Your entire day is yours to explore Venice on your own, furthering your knowledge and passion for the Italian city. Take a Gondola ride, get lost in the Venetian alleys, or visit the Dodge Palace, all within 20 minutes of your hotel. Venice is a great place to spend the night. 3*Hotel, Villa Constanza or similar is recommended for lodging.
Day 2: Venice, Murano, Burano
Join our half-day Murano and Burano Island tour after breakfast, and you’ll be able to see Venice’s lagoon in a whole new light (starting time 10:30 am or 2 pm, duration 4 hours). This is a great opportunity for those who want to take their time and stroll around the islands of Murano and Burano, taking in their beauty and discovering more of their hidden corners without feeling rushed.
The tour will begin at St. Mark’s Square, where you will board a panoramic boat and sail toward the lagoon’s northern end. A visit to Murano Island will be the first stop on the itinerary. We’ll get to see a glass factory up close and watch a local artist turn molten glass into a work of art.
Burano Island, one of the lagoon’s most picturesque and tranquil islands, is the next stop on the tour. Apart from being a photographer’s dream, this island has a long history of lace production as well as brightly colored houses. You’ll have plenty of time to take a leisurely stroll around the island and take in the tranquil atmospheres that are still present. We will then board a motorboat to return to Venice, with our eyes filled with beauty and our memory cards full of memories. Day 3: Venice to Florence
To get to Florence quickly, head to Venice Mestre train station after breakfast and board the fast train at 9:25 a.m. Your 3-star hotel is located in the heart of the city. When you’re ready, join us on a walking tour of Florence’s highlights and the Medici Family dynasty (starting time 1:45 pm, duration 2 hours).
With the help of our knowledgeable guide, you’ll travel back in time to the Medici family’s architectural splendors, churches, and masterpieces. During the tour, you will be able to see Palazzo Medici, Palazzo Vecchio, the city’s most important civil building, and the Loggia Della Signoria’s open-air sculptures.
You’ll also see the Pitti Palace, the residence of the Medici family, on your tour. Arno-side strolls bring you to the Ponte Vecchio, a bridge known for its stunning gold jewelry.
On top of the bridge, you will find the secret Vasari Corridor, which allowed the Medici family to travel safely and secretly from their home to the Pitti Palace to the government building, Palazzo Vecchio. A night’s stay in Florence. Bed and breakfast in a 3-star hotel or similar in Florence.
Day 4: Florence
After breakfast, you can relax and unwind. You’ll be able to do whatever you want for the entire day if you have it all to yourself. Day 5: Florence to Rome
To get to Rome, take the 9:20 am high-speed train from Florence to the city’s train station. You’ll arrive in Rome in just over an hour and a half. Take a taxi or shuttle to your centrally-located hotel upon arrival. It’s time to take advantage of your 24-hour Hop-On Hop-Off bus pass to see all of the Eternal City’s most popular attractions.
An excellent option for tourists who want to see Rome on their own terms and without the constraints of a predetermined itinerary or timetable, this all-day pass includes transportation on a comfortable double-decker coach with an audio guide. A number of notable landmarks are served by the buses, which run continuously throughout the day.
These include the Roman Forum, Palatine Hill, the Colosseum, and St. Peter’s Basilica as well as the Trevi Fountain and the Pantheon.
