Itinerary
Day 1: Edinburgh – Pitlochry – Cairngorms National Park – Inverness
We will leave Edinburgh and head north into the Scottish Highlands across the River Forth. Before going to the holiday town of Pitlochry for lunch, we’ll take a stroll along the River Tay or maybe the nearby Hermitage.
If you have a short lunch, visiting the local whisky distillery is also a choice. From here, the tour takes you past Blair Castle to the Cairngorms National Park, where we spend some time immersing ourselves in the beauty of this amazing place, deep within the ancient Rothiemurchus Estate Caledonian Pine Forests.
We will then proceed north and arrive at our Inverness destination, where you will be dropped off at your accommodation. You will spend a free evening exploring Inverness, the capital of the Highlands.
Day 2: Inverness – Glencoe – Edinburgh
You will be picked up from your hotel in Inverness after a leisurely breakfast to explore the local countryside on the way to Loch Ness, where you will either have the opportunity to take a boat ride along the loch with great views of Urquhart Castle (own expense) or linger on the shore and visit the castle‘s impressive ruins (admission not included).
Lunchtime will be spent on the southern shore of the loch. The Caledonian Canal dominates the area, linking the lochs of the Great Glen, making it a great place to relax and watch the boats pass by.
Then we will proceed south past Ben Nevis and Fort William to Glencoe. The return journey continues through the wild and remote Rannoch Moor and into the Stirling countryside until eventually reaching the Edinburgh local agency at around 7:00 pm.
