Itinerary

Day 1: London – Edinburgh

Enjoy a wonderful holiday in Scotland and get out of town by train to explore the Scottish Highlands with a scenic ride from London to Edinburgh.

You will start your holiday with a train ride from London to Edinburgh, leaving at 7:00 a.m. from Kings Cross Station. The journey is unescorted and takes about 4 1/2 hours. As you pass through beautiful countryside to arrive in Edinburgh, relax.

Please self-transfer to the hotel upon arrival and check-in. To visit the city at your leisure, we will provide you with a free hop-on hop-off pass as well as a ticket to Edinburgh Castle, a sight not to be missed!

Day 2: Edinburgh – Loch Ness – Edinburgh

We’ll be out in the breathtaking wilderness of Scotland today on a day trip to Loch Ness! On this scenic tour, travel north with your guide, passing by the imposing Stirling Castle and crossing the Trossachs (Rob Roy country) before reaching Rannoch Moor and carrying on to the dramatic Glencoe.

3-Day Rail Trip to Edinburgh, Loch Ness and the Highlands from London

From here, we’ll fly past Fort William and the highest mountain in Britain, the mighty Ben Nevis, as we follow the Great Glen to Fort Augustus Village, right on the shores of Loch Ness. Walk along this beautiful loch and keep your eye out for Nessie, or take a boat trip to Loch Ness to get a closer look (own cost).

Enjoy our free picnic lunch that is locally made and walk through Fort Augustus, an enchanting and quaint village.

We will pass through the King of the Glen Country on our way back to Edinburgh, heading south to Perthshire and the historic town of Dunkeld. We’ll see the impressive Forth Bridges along the way before getting back to Edinburgh at about 8:00 pm.

Day 3: Edinburgh – London

Get a few last-minute postcards, pick up a few souvenirs for your loved ones, and before going back to London, cross a few attractions off your bucket list.

The train arrives at approximately 10:20 pm at King’s Cross Station in London.
