Loch Ness

Loch Ness is a massive freshwater loch (lake) in the Scottish Highlands that stretches for 37 kilometers (23 miles) southwest of Inverness. It has a surface elevation of 16 meters (52 feet).

The cryptozoological Loch Ness Monster, also known affectionately as “Nessie,” is said to have been seen in Loch Ness. Since the first photograph was taken in 1933, stories of a huge creature dwelling deep beneath the dark expanses of Loch Ness have circulated around the world. Scientists are still puzzled by the presence of Nessie, despite over 1,000 eyewitness reports, sightings, and mysterious proof.
