The Oriental Pearl TV Tower is a very tall and remarkable Shanghai TV Tower. It us located at Lujiazui’s tip in the Pudong New Area by Huangpu River’s edge, opposite The Bund, makes it a distinct landmark in the area.

Construction started in 1991, and ended in 1994. At a height of 468 m, it was the tallest structure in China during 1994–2007, when the Shanghai World Financial Center surpassed it. It is rated by the China National Tourism Administration as a scenic area grade AAAAA. At night the tower is brightly lit in various sequences of LED lights and it is quite a spectacle.
Oriental Pearl Tower hosted Chinese Live Earth concert on 7 July 2007. The tower is made of 11 spheres, large and small. The two largest spheres have diameters of 50 m for the lower and 45 m for the higher, along the length of the tower. Three columns, each 9 m in diameter, bind them together. The largest sphere has a circumference of 14 metres. Three massive columns, which start underground, support the entire structure.
The tower hosts several visitor facilities: Municipal History Museum in the pedestal, futuristic space city and a sightseeing hall in the large lower sphere, a hotel in five smaller spheres and shops and restaurant and observation deck on the top.
