A villa and vineyard dating from the 15th century is nestled in the mountains overlooking Florence. Separated from the town by tight winding roads, it is amazingly quiet due to its closeness to the town-as evidenced by the big population of rabbits and faasants running freely from vineyard to olive grove.
Escape the town in this amazing place for a wine, food and excellent conversation evening. We will whisk you right from the town center for a pleasant 10-minute drive up to the villa, where the winemaker of the villa will welcome you and treat you to a trip.
You will learn about the distinctive blends used in their wines during our wine tours in Florence. Hear how their delicious white and red wines are made from a accurate mixture of grapes from Merlot, Sangiovese, Cabernet Sauvignon, Chardonnay and Pinot Bianco, as you go through every phase of the process learning. Before sampling the wares for yourself, you will visit the olive groves and vineyards and also the subterranean wine cellar. And who better than the individual who produced them to guide this experience?
You’re going to enjoy a complete tasting of four wines-one white, two red and one unique dessert wine-with the winemaker’s comment on what flavorful notes they’ve put in and how.
They will take you to the lovely garden of the villa after your wine trip where you will find a table set for a feast. Soak up the evening’s tranquility and enjoy your fellow guests ‘ business as you dine on local specialties from Pienza such as crostini, prosciutto ham, parmigiano cheese and pecorino cheese.
This is a complete Tuscan spread so these appetizers are accompanied by primi (or first course) regional-style pasta and a traditional meat and potato secondi (second course). You will also discover options for vegetarians and those with unique diets, of course.
Watch the sun set over Florence from your country table as the afternoon fades into the night and polish it off with dessert. You don’t want to have to worry about transportation full of food and wine so we’ve arranged a transfer to bring you back to the town centre.
