Itinerary
Day 1: Madrid – Zaragoza
In Madrid, the capital of Spain, we will begin our sightseeing tour. You’ll see the Cibeles Fountain, Plaza Mayor, Plaza de Espana, Plaza de Colon, and Madrid’s Royal Palace from the motorcoach, eventually arriving at Puerta del Sol. We’ll say goodbye to Madrid later in the afternoon and travel to Saragossa.
Day 2: Zaragoza – Barcelona
We will travel to Barcelona from the hotel in or near Zaragoza, where you will see the Columbus Monument, La Rambla, and the Sagrada Familia from the outside. Then it’s time for the Football Stadium, Camp Nou, FC Barcelona (admission not included). We will then visit the Estadi Olimpic Lluis Company in Montjuic, the largest stadium for the 1992 Summer Olympics. The rest of the time is spent in the busy Plaza Catalonia, where you can shop or explore on your own for some free time.
Day 3: Barcelona – Valencia – Alicante
We will leave Barcelona after breakfast and drive to beautiful Valencia, Spain’s third-largest city. Upon arrival, we will visit Valencia City Hall’s Modernisme Plaza; the Ancient City Gates of Valencia; and Valencia Cathedral, where the real Holy Grail is held. The evening accommodations are in or near Alicante.
Day 4: Alicante – Granada – Malaga
We’re leaving for Granada this morning, a historic city once ruled by the Visigoths and the Moors. We’re going to make a picture stop at the Alhambra, the Moorish citadel and palace, then visit the medieval quarter of Granada, the Albaicin. There is accommodation in or near Malaga along the Costa del Sol for the evening.
Day 5: Malaga – Seville
On the fifth day, we’re going to Seville, once the capital of the Muslim Dynasty. We’ll visit the Cathedral of Seville and then the Seville Alcazar, a Muslim castle that was later turned into the Royal Palace of Spain. Then we’ll take a stroll through the Santa Cruz neighborhood, Torre del Oro (Gold Tower), and Maria Luisa Park, host of the 1992 World Expo. Admire the porcelain illustrations embodying the heritage and charm of medieval Spain in the Plaza de Espana.
Day 6: Seville – Lisbon
On the sixth day, we will visit Lisbon, the capital and largest city of Portugal. We will make a special stop at Cabo da Roca (Cape Roca), then travel to the center of Lisbon to visit the Belem Tower and the Monastery of Jeronimos. We will pass through the Marquis of Pombal Square and then stop for some free time at Rossio Square.
Day 7: Lisbon – Toledo – Madrid
On the last day, via Toledo, a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 1986, we will drive back to Madrid. We’ll visit the Cathedral of Toledo‘s grand structure overlooking the Alcazar of Toledo. Take a well-earned rest later on. As we make our way back to Madrid, sit back and take in Spain‘s stunning landscapes.
