Itinerary

Day 1: Reykjavik

Transport from Keflavik Airport to your Reykjavik accommodation by Flybus shuttle bus.

Day 2: Reykjavik – Thingvellir NP – Geysir – Gullfoss – Kerid – Hvolsvollur

Meet your tour guide at 08:30 am and begin the escorted tour program with a brief city tour around Reykjavík. We are exploring the course of the Golden Circle. Thingvellir National Park, a UNESCO world heritage site, is the first stop. Next, we’ll hit the Geysir Hot Springs and fly to the Gullfoss Double Waterfall.

We’re moving on to Kerid, a caldera with a crater lake resembling an ancient amphitheater on the rim. In the evening, you’ll hear from your tour guide about the Northern Lights. Of course, once night falls, you’re out waiting for the Northern Lights in the backyard. We’ll be staying in South Iceland for one night.

Day 3: Vatnajokull National Park – Jokulsarlon Glacier Lagoon – Diamond Beach – Hofn

A long drive takes us into a world full of glaciers, ice, and icebergs. We fly to Vatnajokull, the largest national park in Europe, and the source of floating icebergs at the glacial lagoon of Jokulsarlon. The black sandy beach, the so-called Diamond Beach, where huge icebergs are stranded, you can walk.

As part of the educational program for Northern Lights, you will enjoy a film presentation about Northern Lights tonight. In this remote and quiet spot, be careful not to go to bed too soon, or you may miss one more chance of seeing the Northern Lights shimmering and dancing through the night sky.

An optional ice cave visit at Vatnajokull glacier is provided from mid-November to mid-March; which can only be booked and charged with the tour guide on day 2 of the tour.

Day 4: Hofn – Vik – Icelandic Lava Show – Black Sand Beach – Skogafoss – Seljalandsfoss – Reykjavik

5-Day Guided Ring Road Iceland Tour from Reykjavik

Today, we’re going across the Laki lava field to the village of Vik, where we’re attending the spectacular Icelandic Lava Show; the only exhibition in the world where real flowing lava can be experienced! You will be able to see the lava boiling, hear it sizzling, and feel the heat that radiates from the lava by melting lava and pouring it on ice in a room full of people.

We take a walk in the afternoon along the black lava beach and bird cliffs at Reynisfjara beach in southern Iceland. We’re going by the Myrdalsjokull glacier and the famed Eyjafjallajokull volcano. We go on to the waterfall of Skogafoss and pause at the high yet narrow waterfall of Seljalandsfoss. You return to Reykjavik for one last night in the evening. If the weather conditions are ideal, an optional Northern Lights bus tour or fjord cruise can be booked on the spot.
