Berlin Bike Tour: Third Reich and Nazi Germany

In Alexanderplatz, a bustling public square and transportation hub in central Berlin, meet the tour guide and other members of the group. There will be a brief introduction to Berlin, the former capital of Nazi Germany and the Third Reich, followed by a fitting for a Beach Cruiser bike and helmet before the approximately 4.5-hour ride around and through modern-day Germany’s cultural center.

Start at the Neue Synagoge, Berlin’s former Jewish neighborhood, where you’ll find two distinct monuments honoring the city’s Jewish past as well as its Jewish present. Visit the Luftwaffe Ministry, one of the many Third Reich structures still standing today.

It served as the Nazi air force’s headquarters. Learn about the repurposing of a World War II-era civilian air raid shelter in today’s video. Get inspired by these imposing Nazi structures. Some of the structures are still in use, but others have been severely damaged by the battle.

Be sure to see the Reichstag, where the German Parliament meets today, as well as Bebelplatz, where Nazi books were burned during World War II. You can also stand over Hitler’s bunker and reflect on the events that led to World War II’s conclusion.

Berlin Anhalter Bahnhof, which served as a railroad station and deportation point for Holocaust victims, is still standing. Finally, pay a visit to the Holocaust Memorial, which is formally known as the Memorial to the Murdered Jews of Europe. There will be time for lunch during the tour (own expense). Alexanderplatz is where the tour comes to an end.
