Paris Food Tour, Saint-Germain-des-Pres

Your guide will meet you at 2 pm in front of the Église de Saint Germain des Prés. Together, you will stroll through the streets of this lively Parisian neighborhood. Its small bookstores, quaint shops, art galleries, and boutiques make Saint-Germain-des-Pres one of the best neighborhoods for cultural immersion.

We’ll explore rue de Buci, rue Saint André des Arts, rue Dauphine, rue Mazarine, and Boulevard Saint Germain, home of the Maison Georges Larnicol, the pastry shop awarded the Meilleur Ouvrier de France (Best Artisan in France) in 1993. As you wander through the neighborhood, you’ll hear commentary from your guide as you discover some of the most renowned chocolate makers, pastry chefs, and wine cellars in the world: Les 2 Magots, le Procope, Le Café de Flore, and many more.

During the tour, your guide will tell the neighborhood’s story through its impressive architecture. See the Sorbonne with its striking dome, and the Odeon Theatre, exhibiting the cultural and intellectual wealth of Saint Germain des Prés.

Discover the quarter’s culinary wealth during your first tasting around 2:45 pm, at a renowned chocolaterie. Your guide will then tell you about the Church of Saint Sulpice, located on Place de l’Odéon. Feel free to wander around Saint Germain’s covered market dating back to the 18th century.

At around 3:00 pm, we’ll stop at Un Dimanche à Paris, a decadent tea house where you’ll be invited to sit and enjoy a cup of coffee, tea, or hot chocolate, or perhaps try one of the delicious house pastries.

After this short break, our walk will continue down rue de Seine, where you’ll encounter the workshop of Pierre Marcolini, whose extensive knowledge of chocolate making is known around the world. You’ll also see one of many Gérard Mulot shops, offering subtle pastries such as macarons, ice cream, chocolates, and other delicacies. The chocolatier Arnaud Larher is also located on rue de Seine.

He prepares chocolate from beginning to end, creating delectable truffles, chocolate bars, and cakes. Walk down rue Clément and rue Mabillon to get an eyeful of a true Tarte Tropézienne. This specialty was created in Saint Tropez by Alexandre Michka and is concocted using a brioche mixed with two creamy icings and sugar granules to top it off.
