The Konigssee (Königssee) is a natural lake in the southeast part of the Berchtesgadener land district in the state of Bavaria, near the Austrian border. Most of the lake is in the Berchtesgaden National Park.

The Königssee, located in the town of Schönau am Königssee and in the Berchtesgaden National Park, impresses with its unique panorama. The lake is wider than it is long and can reach depths of up to 200 metres. The lake is separated from the outside world and surrounded by pure environment due to the enormous granite faces that tower up to the left and right of the Königssee.

The captain proceeds to St. Bartholomä, Salet, and, upon request, Kessel makes a stop. The passage to the St. Bartholomä peninsula is flanked by blue water, rich green trees, and the Watzmann’s stunning, steep rock cliffs. The famed echo of the trumpet or flugelhorn sounds played by the musicians on the ships may also be heard on the lake’s west side.
