Giethoorn Day Trip from Amsterdam
Amsterdam – Giethoorn – Enkhuizen Dijk – Amsterdam
Passing through the traditional Dutch landscape we travel to Giethoorn, the Dutch Venice, for about 1.5 hours. It becomes very evident in this picturesque canal town how the Dutch survive in, and on, the water. Cars are not allowed in the town; little has changed down the centuries.
On foot and by boat, you’ll enjoy this wonderfully preserved town. We’ll pass skillfully restored farmhouses on the included one-hour boat tour. You will have free time to lunch and self-guided exploration after boat tour. Your guide can give you some tips on where to eat and what to see.
After lunch we continue on to an impressive 20 km long dike in the Ijsselmeer, one of Western Europe’s largest lakes. You see water and drained land at left and right-polders in Dutch. Before we return to Amsterdam we will make a photo stop here.

Zaanse Schans
Visit Zaanse Schans traditional wooden windmills and distinctive green wooden houses which were relocated there to recreate the atmosphere of an 18th/19th-century village. Duration is about 1.5-2 hours including visits with demonstrations at cheese factory and wooden shoes factory. Photo stop at the bank of Zaan River for the best panoramic view of all the windmills.
