Nobbies Rock Formations
Point Grant is the name given to the westernmost point of Phillip Island, but it is more generally known as Nobbies Rock Formations or simply, The Nobbies, due to the strange dome-shaped rock formations that can be found in the shallows.
A 1km boardwalk runs along the shoreline, allowing you to take a leisurely stroll alongside the ocean while taking in the beautiful sights that this area has to offer. You’ll be able to take in the fiery orange sunset as it bathes the rocky shores in its warm glow before heading a few kilometers east to see the Penguin Parade.
The Nobbies are a series of dome-shaped rock formations off the coast of Phillip Island that serve as a vital habitat for the island’s Little Penguins.
Phillip Island, just a couple of hours drive from Melbourne, is home to the world’s largest colony of Little Penguins. We stop at the Nobbies on our Phillip Island day tour for the breathtaking views and a chance to see penguins before sunset.
The coast, the Nobbies, Bass Strait, and the entrance to Western Port Bay are all visible from a clifftop boardwalk. You can see Seal Rocks, which is home to Australia’s largest fur seal colony, and Nobbies Blowhole, where waves crash into a cave in the cliffs and mist sprays back out.
