Day 1: Frankfurt – Wurzburg

Travel to Wurzburg from Frankfurt. Along the way, we suggest a visit to Mespelbrunn Castle. Come to Wurzburg, a beautiful town on the banks of the Main River. The opulent Wurzburg Residenz and Castle Steinburg, located in the center of Wurzburg‘s oldest vineyard, are must-see attractions.

Day 2: Wurzburg – Rothenburg
In Wurzburg, the world-famous Romantic Path to Fussen begins. In the southern provinces of Bavaria and Baden-Württemberg, the German Romantic Road is one of the main magnets for tourism. Drive to Rothenburg ob der Tauber, one of Romantic Germany‘s oldest and most beautiful towns. To get into the holiday spirit, make sure to check out the Christmas museum.

Day 3: Rothenburg – Dinkelsbuhl – Augsburg
We will fly to Dinkelsbuhl in the morning, a medieval town with 16 towers. Then proceed to the town of Nördlingen, for a tour of the old town wall that surrounds the beautiful medieval town center. This is Germany’s only ancient city wall that has been fully preserved. Go on to Augsburg, famous for its amazing silversmiths and goldsmiths throughout the Middle Ages.
Day 4: Augsburg – Fussen – Neuschwanstein
Drive to Fussen, the Romantic Road’s southernmost point. The castle, designed by “Mad King” Luis II, served as the inspiration for Walt Disney’s Sleeping Beauty Castle. Visit the fairytale Neuschwanstein Castle. Travel back in time and arrive in a horse-drawn carriage at the castle. Then visit the Wieskirche Church, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Exploring the small town of Füssen is open for the rest of the day.
Day 5: Fussen – Linderhof – Oberammergau – Munich
We suggest a visit to Linderhof Castle, one of three castles founded by King Ludwig II of Bavaria, on the final day of your Romantic Road tour. Continue to Oberammergau, a picturesque location known for its passion for playing.
