Itinerary

Day 1: Lima

Upon arrival at Lima airport, a representative will greet you and transfer you to your hotel. Feel free to take the rest of the day to explore the city.

Day 2: Lima – Chiclayo

Lima will delight us in the morning with two of the country‘s finest museums.

A panoramic view of the most representative cultures that existed in ancient Peru is supported by the Archaeological and Anthropological Museum.

We will visit the Larco Museum, later on, an 18th-century mansion built around the 7th century on top of a pre-Columbian pyramid. There are plenty of treasures also shown at the world’s most prestigious museums for us to see. Don’t skip the warehouse and the unique collection of erotic ceramics from pre-Columbia.

We will then be moved to the airport and fly to Chiclayo. You will be moved to your hotel by a driver upon landing.

Day 3: Chiclayo – Tucume – Chiclayo

Next on our 5-Day Northern Peru Tour: The Moche Empire, is a visit to Huaca Rajada, the archaeological site where the bones of the Lord of Sipan were discovered.

Then it’s off to Tucume’s Pyramids Valley, an amazing urban center and the most important one of its time, just 33 km from Chiclayo. The legend of the God of Naylamp and the Queen of Cetemi, who came from the sea, is still powerful among the settlers.

For a chance to try the best traditional local cuisine, we will have lunch at one of the restaurants in the area: a varied and spiced variety of flavors for our palate.

To end the day, a visit to the Museum of the Royal Tombs of Sipan, also known as the Museum of the 21st Century. It has been designed as an exact representation of the original tomb and is home to impressive treasures of gold, silver, and precious stones. You will never forget an unbelievable experience.

Day 4: Chiclayo – Trujillo

We’ll say goodbye to Chiclayo today as we depart for Trujillo on a three-hour drive by private transport, enjoying the beauty of the valley along the way.

We will enter the sugar hacienda of Casa Grande along the way, where we will take a detour to the Brujo Archaeological Complex and Museum, named for the polychrome friezes on its walls. A pre-Inca cemetery should be discovered in the surrounding areas.

Trujillo Expedition

Then we will visit the Complex of the Lady of Cao, where we will see this well-preserved mummy, found a few years ago, and a possible ruler of the Moche culture.

We will arrive in Trujillo afterward and move to the hotel. To visit the area for the rest of the day.

Day 5: Trujillo – Lima

We’re going to start the day by visiting the Temple of the Moon, just 5 km from the city. In its polychrome and over-exposed friezes and its urban architecture, this Huaca contains exquisite treasures. Next, we’ll visit the formidable Dragon’s Temple.

We will arrive at the biggest mud city in South America in the afternoon: Chan Chan, the capital of the Chimu Empire.

The tour ends with a visit to the fishermen’s cove of Huanchaco, famous for its totora reed boats known as Totora Horses. Lunchtime at one of the region‘s finest seafood restaurants.

Subsequently, switch to the airport to catch a flight to Lima to take your international flight back home.
