Buckingham Palace acts both as Her Majesty The Queen’s office and residence in London. It is one of the few remaining functioning royal palaces in the world today.

When the palace is not used in its official capacity, visitors may enjoy the State Rooms, which form the center of the working palace-nineteen rooms, lavishly furnished with the Royal Collection’s finest jewels, including Rembrandt, Rubens, Poussin, and Canaletto paintings and some of the finest English and French furniture.

Visitors finish their tour with a stroll along the south side of the Palace garden, which provides spectacular views of the Palace’s west front and the famous pool.

To celebrate the 200th anniversary of Queen Victoria’s birth, a special Queen Victoria’s Palace show at this year’s Buckingham Palace Summer Opening will tell the tale of how the young queen has transformed an unloved royal house into the core of the country’s financial, cultural and official existence.
