Join us for a fantastic Oxford walking tour from London that combines a visit to this historic city with a Downtown Abbey tour of Bampton and Highclere Castle.

We’ll pick you right up from your hotel in London and head out across the English countryside to Oxford, home to one of the world’s oldest universities. Upon arrival, we’ll take a walking tour of the city, uncovering its fascinating history, rich culture, and prestigious universities. Feel inspired by this college town and its stunning architecture.

Downton Abbey and Oxford Tour from London Including Highclere Castle

After our walking tour, we’ll have time to enjoy lunch (own expense). We highly suggest one of Oxford’s great pubs.

From here we’ll continue our journey to Bampton where numerous scenes of Downton Abbey were shot. Our Downtown Abbey tour will lead us to the town’s church, Mathew Crawley’s mother’s house, the hospital, and much, much more. Not only will we relive scenes from the hit show we’ll also explore the village’s quintessential British character.

Downton Abbey fans will not be disappointed as we continue our Downton Abbey tour to Highclere Abbey. Originally built for the houses of Parliament, Sir Charles Berry’s masterpiece now serves as the country seat of the Earls of Carnarvon and was instrumental in multiple scenes from Downton Abbey. Our program will lead us through the Castle’s public rooms including the magnificent public main hall, the library, and sitting rooms.

Afterward, feel free to explore the surrounding parklands created by Lancelot Capability Brown, who also designed the grounds of Blenheim Palace. Or relax with tea and cake in one of the tea rooms. As an added bonus, a signed copy of Lady Carnarvon‘s autobiography will be given to every guest on the tour.

We’ll return to the meeting point in London at around 7:00 pm.
