Day 1: Los Angeles – Santa Barbara – San Francisco

Take a scenic drive up the California coast to Santa Barbara, your first stop. Visit a Spanish Mission to learn how these religious outposts were crucial to the region’s progress. Go on to Solvang, a charming Danish town where you can shop in the local shops.

California - 17-mile drive

We travel north to the world-famous 17-mile drive (part of Route #1), where we get a close look at the breathtaking California coast line. Following our tour, we travel to Carmel, California, the hometown of actor Clint Eastwood. Before going to Silicon Valley for the night, take some free time to walk around town.

Day 2: San Francisco

We now know why San Francisco is regarded as one of the most beautiful cities on the planet. We begin our tour at Fisherman’s Wharf with a cruise through San Francisco Bay, passing under the Golden Gate Bridge and around the infamous Alcatraz Island. Return to Pier 39 for a leisurely lunch before embarking on an afternoon tour that includes stops at the Golden Gate Bridge, Union Square, Chinatown, and Nob Hill.

Day 3: San Francisco – Yosemite National Park OR Hearst Castle – Stevenson Ranch

Summer Route: We travel east through the Joaquin Valley farmlands to Yosemite National Park. The Sierra Nevada contains this 1,200-square-mile wonderland of trees, lakes, and waterfalls. Stop at El Capitan, Bridal Veil Falls, and Half Dome before continuing on a walk from the Yosemite Visitor Center to Yosemite Falls, one of North America’s highest waterfalls (730 meters).

Winter route: The day begins with a tour of Monterrey, which includes the wharf and Cannery Row. Following our trip, we travel south to see the world-famous Hearst Castle. Tour the iconic house packed with antiques built by newspaper baron William Randolph Hearst and learn why the castle served as a playground for the rich and famous for the first half of the twentieth century. Drive south towards Las Vegas in the evening.

Day 4: Stevenson Ranch – Barstow – Las Vegas

Today’s journey takes us east across the desert and Death Valley to Las Vegas, the world’s gambling capital. We stop for lunch at the Barstow Outlet Mall, which is packed with well-known brands including Levi’s, Nike, Reebok, Timberland, and others.

We take a tour of the strip in the evening to see some of the truly incredible hotels and fantasies constructed in the middle of the desert, including Caesar’s Palace, Mirage, Luxor, Paris, New York New York, Treasure Island, and more. Finish the evening with one of the many shows or a trip to one of the many casinos; who knows, maybe Lady Luck will smile on you tonight.

Day 5: Las Vegas – Hoover Dam – Los Angeles

After a peaceful breakfast we leave Las Vegas and head for the Hoover Dam to learn how this man created a phenomenon and what he did in the area. After our tour, we travel west and cross the state line into California for one last shot at the slot machines.
