Location: Xi’an

The city of Xi’an, which is the capital of Shanxi Province and is located in the middle of China, is considered to be one of the top four ancient capitals in history. Other ancient capitals are Athens, Rome, and Cairo. Since Xian served as the capital of thirteen different dynasties between the 11th century BC and the 10th century AD, the United Nations Educational, Scientific, and Cultural Organisation (UNESCO) designated it as a World Historical and Cultural City in 1981.
