The Basílica de la Sagrada Família is a large and incomplete Roman Catholic minor shrine in Barcelona, Spain, frequently known as the Sagrada Família. The construction was designed by Catalan architect Antoni Gaudí (1852–1926) and it is a part of a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

The church is designed in a combination of Gothic and curvilinear Art Nouveau style, very typical for Gaudi. The architect is burred in the crypt inside a church.

The official completion date is 2026 (100 years after Gaudí’s death). The building management thinks that the Sagrada Church can be completed in the first third of the 21st century.

When the Sagrada Família is finished, the basilica will be the largest church in the world. The speed of building the Sagrada Família largely depends on how much visitors donate.

The work on the basilica is now taking so long that parts of the Sagrada that have already been completed are already damaged again and have to be renovated during your visit. This happens more often with churches of this format.

Although the Sagrada Família is not yet finished, the church was consecrated already on November 7, 2010 by Pope Benedict XVI.
