Itinerary
Day 1: South Coast Waterfalls & Black Beach
Hveragerdi
On the first day, you will depart from Reykjavík. You will drive along Route 1 passing through small towns and enjoying the beauty of the Icelandic countryside. You will pass by the famous town of Hveragerði, famous for the greenhouses and the “Hot River” of Reykjadalur, sitting in a rift valley between the two continental plates of Eurasia and America.
Selfoss
Selfoss is the largest town and the capital of South Iceland
Seljalandsfoss
You’ll be able to experience this waterfall right up close as it crashes off the side of the Eyjafjallajokull volcano from a height of 60 meters.
Gljufrabui Waterfalls
A hidden waterfall, which most visitors miss. We’ll tell you where to find it!
Írafoss
A private waterfall, that not everyone has access to
Volcano Eyjafjallajokull

Skogafoss
Skogafoss is one of the most iconic waterfalls in the world, and even featured in “Game of Thrones”. Because of its south-facing position, it is often covered in rainbows as the 60-meter cascade of water produces a lot of sprays! Skogafoss is one of the most popular sights in the country and it’s possible to climb to the top of the falls to see it from there too
Solheimajokull Glacier
Solheimajokull is part of one of the largest glaciers in the country, Myrdalsjokull. Enjoy the raw views around and get as close as possible to the glacier cap.
Dyrholaey
The stone sea arches of Dyrholaey can also be seen in the distance from Reynisfjara Black Sand Beach
Reynisfjara Beach
It is now time to visit the world-famous black sand beach at Reynisfjara, where beautifully-shaped basalt columns hug the cliffs, volcanic sands are pounded by powerful Atlantic waves, and the starkly shaped sea stacks of the Reynisdrangar tower just offshore.
Day 2: Glacier Lagoon & Blue Ice Cave
Vik
The second day starts with a shortstop in Vík Village which offers stunning views over Black Sand Beach and hills surrounding this small settlement
Eldhraun Lava Field
A barren and desolate wasteland filled with moss-covered lava formations.
Hofskirkja Church
Hofskirkja was the last church of this type to be built in Iceland, dating back to the 19th century. Deep layers of turf make up the roof of the church here, which is also surrounded by moss-covered burial mounds
Glacier Lagoon
Jokulsarlon Glacier Lagoon is truly an extraordinary place, a bucket-list location featured in several Hollywood movies, but also very peaceful and tranquil too. The scenery is stunning, and always changing too, as wind and tides pull the icebergs in different directions all the time. Here you can also spot seals swimming around the ice chunks or resting on surrounding beaches
Fellsfjara
Just a few hundred yards away from the Glacier Lagoon you will see Diamond Beach, which gets its name from the countless sparkling fragments of multi-colored icebergs found here. They are slowly being sculpted into fantastic shapes by the wind and the waves on this black sand Atlantic beach.
Vatnajokull National Park
Last but not least, the tour’s actual highlight awaits you! The journey to the Blue Ice Cave begins with a super jeep ride to a natural ice cave. The Blue Ice Cave exemplifies Icelandic nature’s colossal forces, as it is generated naturally in glaciers when freshwater freezes in the frigid winter temperatures. Every year, new caverns are formed as glaciers freeze, thaw, and refreeze into various shapes.
It’s a spectacular sight to view, with a variety of ice formations in a variety of vibrant colors. Our local guides will take you to some of the most stunning blue ice caves in the area. That single blue ice cave may never exist again once you’ve been there, so this is definitely a once-in-a-lifetime event. We’ll return to the capital city after returning from the Blue Ice Cave to Jokulsarlon, with a break at Vik for refreshments along the way.
