Kings Park and Botanic Garden is large green area of more than 400 hectare overviewing Perth. The park is a diverse combination of green parks, botanic garden and natural bushlands sitting atop Mount Eliza. The grounds are maintained as native bushlands on two thirds of the territory.
The area harbors over 324 native plant species, 215 well-known indigenous fungal species and 80 bird species, providing panoramic views of the Swan River and Darling Range.
It is Western Australia’s most popular destination for tourists, with annual visits ranging to five million. Kings Park is a home to the State War Memorial, a Royal Park Tennis Club and a reservoir as well as visitor facilities.
During the month of September of each year Kings Park is the venue for Australia’s biggest wild-flower show and display: the Kings Park Festival.
The streets in the park are lined with trees with individual plaques dedicated to men and women who died in the First and Second World War.
