The Alvear Art Hotel is the most understated and informal of the three Alvear properties in Buenos Aires, and it additionally has a location in the heart of the city. However, the communal areas are bright and beautiful, and old photographs and carefully selected paintings provide hints of elegance to the dining area and well-appointed guest rooms. The word “art” in the name does not particularly refer to a theme.

The Retiro district is experiencing a period of revitalization as a result of a number of innovative redesigns of the street furniture as well as the launch of a number of hip bars and restaurants. However, it is a popular place during the workdays, and there may be a lot of traffic. The primary international airport may be reached by cab in forty-five to fifty minutes. The subte (metro) stop nearest to you is the San Martín station.

Rooms

The hotel has 139 rooms, all of which are decorated in the same unobtrusive style. These rooms are furnished with self-colored fabrics (dark brown, dull purple, and olive green are typical hues), wood panelling, comfortable armchairs, a plush king-sized bed or two twin beds (with Egyptian cotton sheets and reading lighting), a desk, and huge windows. In addition to handmade aromatic soaps, magnificent marble bathrooms come equipped with a huge whirlpool bath and a rainforest shower combination.

On the moment of arrival, a basket of fresh fruit is presented to each and every visitor. Every room is equipped with a pod-type espresso coffee machine and robes in the style of Sean Connery that end at the mid-thigh for guests who are taller than five feet five inches.

At the same time that the windows may be opened, the electric blinds can be operated from the bed. Photographs in black and white or contemporary works of art are displayed on the walls. This historic district is best viewed from the Art Suite, which is located on the fifteenth level and is exceptionally spacious.

Services

Requests for assistance with a bag or a pot of tea, for instance, are greeted with a prompt affirmative response. Room and lobby services are also quite courteous and efficient. Among the facilities, the rooftop fitness centre and heated pool with retractable roof are the most spectacular. Both of these facilities offer breathtaking views of the city area. A sauna and a well-managed spa are also available at the hotel.

Food and drinks

The Contrazluz restaurant features a glass roof that is designed to worship the sun, as well as some of the most eye-catching artwork in the structure, as well as glass panels that have been thoughtfully inscribed. There are lunch menus that offer a good value and are fixed price, and they include a variety of delectable foods such as spaghetti and polenta, as well as steak and burgers.

It is recommended that you try the duck with pumpkin cream. There is a good selection of Argentine wines available at the lobby bar, which is called Artesano. In addition to serving typical cocktails, the bar also offers some innovative house specialties that make use of traditional Argentine digestifs and yerba mate tea.

The bar also offers a selection of salads, sandwiches and snacks. When you are having supper, try a dessert called an alfajor, which is similar to a mille-feuille biscuit, and pair it with an Argentine dessert wine.

The breakfast is a big buffet that includes a wide selection of fruits, eggs that have been cooked in advance, toast, fresh bread, medialunas (sweet croissants), couscous, a stir-fry vegetable choice, and complete English components. A glass of juice is brought to your table.
