8.5-Hour Monet’s Garden Bike Tour from Paris
We will bring our personal bus to Vernon village to the lovely Normandy wheat and sunflower fields. We’ll collect our bicycles there, visit the picnic supplies market and then have dinner in a lovely park along the river. We’re going to ride the charming bike trail to Giverny after dinner.
With thousands of brilliantly colored flowers, water lilies floating on the pond, and the renowned Japanese bridge, Monet’s personal gardens are alive. We invite you to walk through the Monet Foundation as if you walk through one of his favorite paintings.
Monet’s distinctive house is also open to visit as well as his studio, so be sure to take your camera! The village of Giverny also provides you with countless cafes and picturesque, tiny streets waiting to be explored. This is the Impressionist movement’s birthplace.
After our trip, we will be pedaling back to Vernon along the Seine River for our return to Paris. Typically, the tour returns around 5:30 pm to the initial meeting point in Paris.
See the gardens that served as the inspiration for many of Claude Monet’s paintings, as well as the town where he called home for many years. Upon meeting your guide in Paris, you’ll be transported in a cozy minibus through Normandy’s beautiful sunflower and wheat fields.
Leave the ship at the village of Vernon and go to the local farmers’ market for picnic supplies like fresh cheeses, bread, and fruit (own expense). Ride your bike across the Seine and have a lovely picnic lunch on the riverbanks when you’re done exploring.
To reach the picture-perfect village of Giverny, where Monet lived from 1883 to 1926, continue bicycling for about five kilometers (three miles) on country roads. As you pedal past the village church and historic cemetery, you’ll see where Claude Monet is interred in an individual vault.
Learn about the Hotel Baudy’s artistic history, which has hosted luminaries such as the painters Manet and Renoir, and take in the charming atmosphere of the town’s cafes and lanes.
Arrive at Monet’s well-maintained country house, which has been furnished with the artist’s original furnishings and artwork for a unique look into his daily life as an artist. Visit the gardens of Claude Monet and take in the vibrant colors of hollyhocks, roses, tulips, and poppies as you stroll.
The footbridge, ponds, and water lilies that served as the inspiration for many of Monet’s most famous paintings can be found in a section of the garden designed in Japanese style. Cycle back to Vernon after spending about 1.5 hours exploring the house and gardens, then continue the rest of your tour in Paris, where it comes to an end in the evening.
