Join our guide at the Place Saint-Michel in central Paris and go on a day trip to explore the two spectacular castles in Vaux-le-Vicomte and Fontainebleau, just outside Paris. You will enjoy the personalized service and the adequate time to visit Vaux-le-Vicomte and Fontainebleauand on this small group tour of just 8 people. Your guide will send you a detailed description of both castles and their predecessors. You will then have free time to discover and reflect on the most fascinating parts of could castle and its grounds. You will be given an audio guide inside each castle. If you finish your tour of the interior, you can walk through the lovely floral windows, bubbling fountains and shrubbery.
Vaux-le-Vicomte was created for King Louis XIV’s Minister of Finance, Nicolas Fouquet. Fouquet brought together the most accomplished French architect, artist, and gardener of his time to create France’s most magnificent castle and gardens.
The renowned architect Louis Le Vau, the artist and interior designer Charles Le Brun, and André Le Nôtre, the creator of the French garden, made up this dream combination. Vaux-le-Vicomte is so beautiful that it was used to film the TV show Versailles!
Fontainebleau, southeast of Paris, is noted for its sumptuous Fontainebleau Palace. The palace features Marie Antoinette’s Turkish boudoir, the Napoleon Museum, and a spectacular theater, and was built by French monarchy with elements dating back to the 1100s.
Its formal grounds include statues and attractive lakes. Fontainebleau forest surrounds the town and chateau, and is home to Le Grand Parquet, an equestrian stadium.
