Sovereign Hill Gold Rush Tour

Melbourne – Ballarat – Sovereign Hill – Red Hill Mine – Melbourne

Discover Australia’s past gold rush days with a day trip to Ballarat from Melbourne to Sovereign Hill, the Red Hill Mine and more!

We will travel back in time from 8:20am to the Victoria gold rush period. we will depart from Melbourne. At first you’re on the way to the lovely town of Ballarat across the West Gate Bridge. Relieve yourself and relax on DVD entertainment and introduce you to Sovereign Hill, a magnificent open-air museum that shows Australia’s gold rush history in’ real life.’

First, we’ll get to Ballarat where the historical importance of this town will be discovered. The tall, tree-lined streets in its center are filled with Victorian great houses, many of which are the product of the golden field of the 1850s. Today Ballarat is a major regional center with a population of nearly 100,000 and the commercial capital of the Central Highlands.

We’re going to head to Sovereign Hill next. It is like going into a working city of the time and giving breath to the exhibition through the homes, stores and shops, blacksmiths, hotels and costumed characters. You can walk around the city and experience the style of life it used to be.

At Sovereign Hill, you will first hear the wonderful story about the Eureka Stockade, an incident that was fueled by government taxes on miners. The first such armed rebellion in Australia led to 20 diggers and 5 soldiers ‘ death, and with the birth of democracy it changed the history of Australia for ever.

From here, we will take a Red Hill Mine tour to explore the dark and dangerous world of deep-leaded mining, into the depths of a true underground gold mine. You will also discover the famous’ Welcome Nugget.’ Later, with its imposing collection, you can explore the Gold Museum.

In Sovereign Hill, where you can search for gold, you will have some free time. There are diggers on hand to show you the tricks and techniques you used, so you can try your own luck.

The numerous performances each day that illustrate the exciting and colorful lives of the gold fields will entertain you. The characters will take you into the fun with their magnificent costumes of the day and a lot of stories to share.

You can also attend several operational workshops and witness blacksmithing demonstrations, wrighting, gold pouring, candle making and more.

Then about 5:00pm we are going to come back to Melbourne.
