Then we will visit the Jaggar Museum, the Thurston Lava Tunnel, and the Orchid Garden of Akatsuka. Then we will visit the Macadamia Nut Factory, where we will learn about macadamia nut cultivation and harvesting.
We’re going to visit Richardson Beach Park after lunch. You’ll see a green sea turtle lying on the cliffs if you’re lucky. Our next stop is the statue of King Kamehameha, where we’ll hear a little bit about Hawaiian culture. We’re going to take a drive to see the famous Rainbow Falls then.
Day 3: Akaka North Shore One Day Tour
We will visit Kalapana Magma today, then travel to the Big Island’s east coast, enjoying the scenery along the way. The new beach of black sand emits a metallic sheen that glows in the light.
Then we’ll be back for lunch in the ancient city of Hilo. In the afternoon, we will continue to drive to Akaka Falls on the Big Island’s north shore to see the very long Big Island waterfalls where we can drive. You’ll eventually stop at the farmer’s market. Freshly produced papaya and other seasonal tropical fruits can be purchased. We’ll return to the hotel later to rest and finish off today’s itinerary.
