Maui Gold Pineapple and Iao Valley Tour

Join us on a journey off the beaten path to the historic Hali’imaile Town, located in upcountry Maui, Hawaii. Experience first-hand Maui’s plantation heritage in an interactive tour through the Maui Gold Pineapple Factory and Fields. Time for lunch will be provided with a couple of options, the Hali’imaile General Store, a multi-award winning restaurant opened by famed Maui chef and restaurateur Beverly Gannon or the ever popular craze of food trucks featuring Kama Hele Cafe. Continue the exploration of Maui’s natural beauty and rich history to the tropical Iao Valley, home to lush rainforests and waterfalls.

Maui Gold Pineapple Fields Tour

Your Maui Gold Pineapple guide takes you “behind the scenes” to experience Maui’s working pineapple fields and operations. You’ll get to taste fresh samples of pineapple at different stages of maturation and take home your very own fresh pineapple as a souvenir. Learn about the various growing cycles and cultivation methods involved in the production of this uniquely sweet fruit. The family friendly tour includes local history about Maui’s plantation heritage and fun facts about the world-renowned Maui Gold pineapple.

Iao Valley State Monument

Visit the famous battleground where King Kamehameha defeated Maui’s warriors and ruler in his quest to unite the islands. The state park is also home to a beautiful botanical garden and the Iao Needle, a National Landmark surrounded by Hawaiian history, folklore alike, lush green gardens, and the designated Ali’i burial grounds.

Hali’imaile General Store

A quaint heritage building dating back to the 1920’s where it served as the general store for Maui’s upcountry plantation town. It has since been transformed into a fine dining restaurant, opened in 1988 by Chef Beverly Gannon. “The Store” has won countless awards and draws both locals and visitors despite its rustic location. Choose from mouth-watering island-inspired dishes featuring fresh local ingredients.

Kama Hele Café

“Kama Hele” means “traveler” in Hawaiian, which applies not only to a certain mobile food truck in Haliʻimaile, but also to the diners it draws. Kama Hele opened in January 2014, and prides itself on using healthy ingredients like brown rice, candying its own nuts and making many food items from scratch, including salad dressing and salsa. In addition to kombucha, a range of coffee drinks and shaved ice, the menu includes Monte Cristo, veggie wrap, turkey bacon club sandwich, sweet-bread French toast, and a BBQ pulled pork Kalua sandwich.
