On this exclusive 8.5-hour Terracotta Warriors, City Wall, and Giant Wild Goose Pagoda tour, experience three of Xi’an‘s must-see attractions. See thousands of clay warriors carved for China’s first emperor in the 3rd century BC at the UNESCO-listed Terracotta Army Museum.
Then, before touring Xi’an’s City Wall, which is the best-preserved of its kind in China, view the 7th-century Giant Wild Goose Pagoda. Lunch is included, as are entrance fees, private transportation, and the services of an art historian guide.
- Terracotta Making Factory
- Terracotta Warriors and Horses
- Giant Wild Goose Pagoda
- Cien Temple
After your guide has picked up the airport, we will visit the Terracotta factory to learn how these fascinating statues have been made.
Then you’ll discover the original 2000 year-old Terracotta Warriors and Horses. The museum contains Pit 1, 2, 3 and the bronze carts and horses of the Terracotta Warriors.
We’ll have lunch at a local restaurant before returning to Xi’an, visiting the Giant Wild Goose Pagoda (Admission not included) and Cien Temple.
And we’re going to drop you off at the airport.
Meet your experienced art historian guide at your Xi’an hotel and travel by private, air-conditioned vehicle to the Terracotta Warriors and Horses Museum, which houses one of the world’s biggest archaeological findings. When you arrive, go inside and have a tour of the excavation pits, where thousands of life-size clay warriors have been uncovered since 1974.
Admire the UNESCO-listed army and discover how it was interred in the 3rd century BC alongside China’s first emperor, Qing Shi Huang. Visit the exhibition hall to see riches discovered in the emperor’s mausoleum, and the theater to see a film on how the soldiers were created almost 2,000 years ago. Learn about Qin Shi Huang and how the individual warriors were built and painted in the beginning.
Then peruse the stores for gifts such as imitation warrior and horse statues and other trinkets (own expense). After that, stop for lunch at a local eatery before heading back to central Xi’an to see the Giant Wild Goose Pagoda, another of the city’s prominent attractions.
This ornate pagoda, located in the Da Cien Temple, was built in 652 by Tang Emperor Gaozong. As your guide describes how the square-shaped, multi-tiered structure was created to contain precious Buddhist scriptures brought from India by monk Xuan Zang, marvel at the square-shaped, multi-tiered structure. Continue on to China’s best-preserved and most comprehensive city wall, Xi’an’s City Wall.
This huge wall, which dates from the early Ming era, encircles Xian’s historic town for 8.6 miles (14 kilometers). Take a stroll along the battlements, taking in the panoramic city views and seeing some of the huge structure’s 98 ramparts, which are spaced 393 feet (120 meters) apart to prevent adversaries from scaling it. Following your visit to the wall, your tour concludes with a drop-off at your accommodation.
The famed Terracotta Warriors and Horses Museum is the first destination in the morning. In addition to viewing the pits and the exhibition hall, tourists can also visit the Circamara Theater, where they can ‘journey’ back in time. You’ll learn a lot about Emperor Qin Shihuang’s history, as well as the discovery, maintenance, and protection of the Terracotta Warriors. A nearby shopping complex also sells replicas of the warriors, horses, and chariots as souvenirs.
