Safari to the Clouds Tour Northwest Argentina from Salta

The excursion starts early in the morning in order to enjoy most of the day and the sunlight along the journey.

We will pick you up in the city center and begin our journey to the Road to the Clouds. Thanks to the technical conditions of our vehicles, the “Safari to the Clouds” gives us the possibility to combine three different circuits in the Northwest of Argentina in one day.

The first one, the “Road to the Clouds,” follows the famous railway track of the “Train to the Clouds” through the “Quebrada del Toro” (Bull’s Gorge) all the way up to San Antonio de los Cobres. The construction of the train officially started in 1921 and ended in 1932. The train connects Salta to the Chilean border, up in the Andes Mountain.

The second circuit goes through Puna, traveling along route 40, up to “Salinas Grandes” (Salt Lakes) of Jujuy. Once you arrive at the famous Salinas Grandes, up 3450 meters above sea level, you will be invited to walk on the “lakes” and you will be amazed by its desert scenery.

Here we will enjoy lunch before continuing to the final circuit of our trip.

Next, you head towards the third circuit, the downhill trip of Lipan to the picturesque village of Purmamarca, at the base of the well-known “Mount of the Seven Colors,” where you can take amazing pictures, illuminated by the sunlight.

After passing the day going over the region’s marvels, you will be taken back to Salta city center by the end of the afternoon.
