Medieval Village Day Trip from Barcelona

1 Day

Barcelona – Pyrenees – Rupit – Barcelona

Nestled in the Pyrenees just north of Barcelona are numerous and charming medieval mountain villages with stone houses and cafes built directly into the rock of the mountains. Upon arriving at the first incredibly well-preserved Pyrenees village, you will find yourself in the midst of an impressive network of hiking and walking paths. The loudest sounds you’ll hear on this small-group day trip from Barcelona are streams, rivers, waterfalls, and the occasional sheep, cow, bull, or goose.

Medieval Village Day Trip from Barcelona

This is a day of great mountains, excellent views, amazing history, and a superb four-course lunch at a traditional Catalan restaurant. After a short drive from bustling Barcelona, we’ll begin by exploring winding cobblestone streets and stone houses dating back more than 500 years, with unique photo opportunities at every turn.

Following coffee or tea and a local pastry at one of the town cafes – included in your package – your guide will take you through the streets of this medieval town for yet another fantastic history lesson and plenty of great photos. We’ll duck out of the village for a light hike through wooded trails and cliff-top lookouts: streams, rivers, waterfalls, and spectacular views of deep canyons and forested valleys. Those opting out can relax on a river-view terrace and enjoy the sun, have a drink, and read a book till the others return.
