In spite of the fact that the façade of the hotel is reminiscent of the industrial warehouses that are located in the neighbouring South Beach district, with its red brick and oversized windows, the interiors are designed to be as simple and sophisticated as possible, drawing inspiration from San Francisco’s proximity to the wilds of Northern California.

The halls are decorated with earthy greens and browns that evoke the redwood forest, and a fresh sprig of lavender is hidden away beside each door leading to the guestrooms. Additionally, Jerusalem limestone columns in the lobby recall the atmosphere of local wine country cellars. Light woods are used throughout the building.

Services

Spa Vitale, which is located on the top level, has only three treatment rooms, but in addition to that, it provides a one-of-a-kind bathtub ritual in its open-air bamboo garden. In addition, there are a number of outdoor terraces that are equipped with garden furniture and are open to all guests.

The better of these terraces face the Embarcadero and the harbour. In recent times, a compact fitness club that does not have any windows has been outfitted with brand-new Matrix equipment. Although the service is friendly and inviting, it does not go above and above.

Rooms

Large and bright, the standard rooms come with either a view of the city or the water, and they are available with any setting. Those who are looking directly towards the Bay Bridge will find that the waterfront views are outstanding.

In keeping with the natural motif of the corridors, oatmeal-colored tints and woven materials are used throughout (even the Bose stereos that are equipped with Bluetooth are beige). It is a rather peculiar turn of events that each room is equipped with a sound machine that is tuned with soothing noise, yet Nespresso coffee machines are only available upon request (albeit they are free of charge).

There are either spacious walk-in showers with rainforest heads or shower/tub combinations available in the bathrooms, which are generously sized and featuring white tiles. In addition, there are alternatives for studios and suites, some of which come with private terraces.

Food and drinks

The Americano restaurant and bar on the ground floor features a front patio that faces the Embarcadero and is popular with the population that comes in after work. Guests who are looking for a more calm eating experience should choose the dining room that is located towards the back of the establishment.

A luscious slab of short rib with masterfully smoked gnocchi and braised chard is one of the highlights of the Italian-meets-Californian menu, which is also available for in-room dining. The menu has some remarkable cooking. A brief yet satiating breakfast menu is also available here.

It includes a selection of pastries, fruit, grains, and a number of different egg dishes (try The Forager, which is served with wild mushrooms and sourdough bread from the area).
