Pathumwan, Bangkok’s central neighborhood, is home to Jim Thompson House. Jim Thompson, an American businessman, espionage agent, and Southeast Asian art collector, built the complex out of parts of six nineteenth-century Thai houses, many of which came from Ayutthaya, Thailand’s former capital.

In addition, there is a collection of art from Thailand, Burma, Cambodia, and Laos in the house. Currently, the James H. W. Thompson Foundation is in charge of it, with Princess Sirindhorn as its patron.
