1 Day

The man who designed and built this stunning Thai-style home is honored with the honor of having his name immortalized in the house’s design. It wasn’t until the end of World War II that Jim Thompson set foot in Thailand.

For his work revitalizing the Thai silk industry, he became a household name before mysteriously disappearing in Malaysia. Extensive Asian art and antique collections are on display in Jim Thompson’s Thai House Museum, which is now open to the public. The palace of His Royal Highness Prince Chumbhot Paribatra of Nakhon Sawan, Suan Pakkad Palace, is visited, which is ornamented with 17th-century architecture and a collection of unique antiquities representing every kind of Thai art form.

Pathumwan, Bangkok’s central neighborhood, is home to Jim Thompson House. Jim Thompson, an American businessman, espionage agent, and Southeast Asian art collector, built the complex out of parts of six nineteenth-century Thai houses, many of which came from Ayutthaya, Thailand’s former capital.

In addition, there is a collection of art from Thailand, Burma, Cambodia, and Laos in the house. Currently, the James H. W. Thompson Foundation is in charge of it, with Princess Sirindhorn as its patron.
