An 8-hour tour from Adelaide takes visitors to Jacobs Creek Winery and Saltram Wine Estate in the Barossa Valley wine region to taste fine wines. The oldest German settlement in Australia, Hahndorf, is located in the Adelaide Hills, where you can enjoy a 2-course lunch at the South Australian Company Store.

Make your own way around the city, perhaps stopping to peruse the boutiques and sample local specialties, German-style fare, and local wines and beers (please note: any tastings or purchases in Hahndorf are not included in the price). Guests of the Majestic Roof Garden Hotel and Mantra on Frome will be picked up at 16 Hindmarsh Square in Adelaide as of May 3, 2018, due to roadwork on Frome Street.

Hahndorf and Barossa Wine Experience

Travel north through Adelaide to the world-renowned wine region of Barossa.

Enjoy the change of scenery as you reach the vineyards of the luxury wine district of South Australia. Your first stop is at the multi-award-winning Jacob’s Creek Visitor Center where you’ll have the opportunity to sample their famous wines in a formal degustation, take a tour of the surrounding vineyards and cellar windows, and enjoy morning tea overlooking the vineyards.

Barossa and Hahndorf Day Trip from Adelaide Including Wine Tasting and Lunch

Leaving Jacob’s Creek Visitor Centre, ride to Mengler Hill Lookout for breathtaking valley views and then to Angaston’s Saltram Wine Estate. Here you’ll learn about the 150-year history of Saltram and taste some of the wide range of quality wines from the stunning cellar door.

Travel to the South Australian Company Store and Kitchen for a delicious lunch after a memorable cellar door experience. The Kitchen Company draws on ingredients and traditions distinct from the regional producers of Barossa. Together with wine tastings from two Barossa wineries boutiques, you can enjoy a scrumptious 2-course lunch (including a sampling plate).

You will travel through the picturesque Adelaide Hills in the afternoon, where you will have a short stop at Springton’s Herbig Family Tree. This hollow tree trunk provided Friedrich & Caroline Herbig with a’ house’ and up to 1860 two of their 16 children.

Upon arrival in Hahndorf (the oldest German settlement in Adelaide), you can choose between wine tastings at the RockBare Cellar Door boutique or free time to explore Hahndorf’s main street with numerous shops and galleries full of local arts, crafts and produce and pubs where you can sample some German beers.
