Full Day Loire Valley Castles Tour from Paris

This full-day trip from Paris is a chance to discover with an official guide three of the most famous chateaux in the Loire Valley. Visit the magnificent Chateau de Chambord, encircled by one of Europe’s biggest forest parks, the charming Chenonceau Chateau, constructed across the Cher River, and the private, atmospheric Cheverny Chateau. Experience what life was like in these amazing estates that once housed the courts of the Kings of France during the Renaissance period.

We will start a special day touring the Loire Valley at 7:15am from our agency in central Paris. Relax with a luxurious air-conditioned coach while taking in the beautiful French countryside before arriving at Chateau de Chambord at about 9:30am.

Chambord is one of the Loire Valley’s biggest chateaux, located in a vast hunting ground. It was constructed in the 16th century with the assistance of none other than Leonardo da Vinci for King Francis I of France. See the amazing double helix staircase representing the Tree of Life in the Middle Ages and the wide panoramic terrace of the chateau overlooking the grounds with its sea of chimneys.

Built during the 16th century, Chenonceau, also known as The Ladies ‘ Castle, was home to many well-known French aristocratic ladies, including Diane de Poitiers, Catherine de Medici and the White Queen, Louise de Lorraine. You could almost dream of the appearance of Chenonceau over the Cher River. Its fairytale architecture bears witness to a sophisticated and typically French living style, with elegantly furnished floral rooms, tapestries, antique paintings and fascinating kitchens housed in the bridge piers supporting the castle.

Cheverny, the final chateau of the day, is a magnificent house adorned with lovely 17th-century furniture and extremely well-preserved interiors.

A trip lasting between 45 minutes and 1 hour will take you to each chateau, followed by free time to explore your own hidden corners. We’ll arrive back in Paris at about 8:00pm at the end of the day.

Lunch is included in the St Hubert Hotel Restaurant in Cour-Cheverny in Winter (November to March) (five minutes from Cheverny). Homemade salmon terrine with lemon sauce, baby vegetables and eggs are on the menu; roast turkey with green beans, provencal peppers and sauteed potatoes; and hot apple tart (including beverages).

Lunch is not included in Summer (April to October), but your guide will be pleased to recommend local restaurants.
