Dublin – Rock of Cashel – Blarney Castle – Cahir Castle – Dublin
Come along and see a completely different side of Ireland. In addition to the lovely countryside, we will be stopping over at various sites of historic significance, punctuated with a dash of good old-fashioned Irish fun for good measure. On this day trip to Cork, we’ll visit Blarney Castle, famous for the Blarney Stone, which gives you the gift of speech when you kiss it!
Last, but not least, we’ll visit the Rock of Cashel in the historical seat of the Kings of Munster, perched atop a gigantic rock in the lonely countryside.
On this Blarney day tour from Dublin, discover hidden gems and famous attractions across County Cork. Travel deep into County Cork’s Golden Vale with your guide, then enjoy some free time in Cork to explore at your leisure before visiting the popular Rock of Cashel. Then go to Blarney Castle and kiss the Blarney Stone, as it has been done for centuries. Before returning to Dublin, finish your trip with some tax-free shopping at the Woollen Mills.
We depart Dublin at 8:00 AM, driving through the midlands down to Blarney, in the beautiful County Cork. We will pass through the Golden Vale, the most fertile lands in all of Europe with green fields as far as the eye can see.
Rock of Cashel
The world-famous Rock of Cashel in Co. Tipperary will be our first stop. You will walk in St. Patrick’s footsteps, which are flanked by ruins, Celtic crosses, and round towers, at one of Ireland’s most evocative locations. Feel Ireland’s spirit.
The Rock of Cashel was the traditional seat of the Munster Kings until they donated the complex to the Catholic Church for use as a cathedral almost 1,000 years ago. It is one of Europe’s finest examples of medieval architecture. This tour’s entrance fee (EUR 7) is included in the price.
In Cork, Ireland’s southern capital, you’ll have one hour and thirty minutes to yourself. The gourmet English Markets (1788) are a highlight, with a wide variety of food stalls showcasing the best of local produce. During her State Visit in 2011, Queen Elizabeth II of England had a great time visiting local artisans! Cork has a lively Irish atmosphere and is recognized as the “Rebel City” for its fierce resistance during the War of Independence.
Purchase a bottle of Paddy Flaherty Irish Whiskey or try a pint of Murphy’s Irish Stout. Spend 1.5 hours with your family and friends exploring Cork City. Rejoin us on the tour as we return to the magnificent Blarney Castle!
The Irish are renowned for the “Blarney,” which has been immortalized in song and legend. If you kiss the Blarney Stone, you will be granted the “gift of the gab” – seven years of eloquent speech. You’ll have to bend over backwards to kiss the stone on the battlements of Blarney Castle!
You have time to stroll through the magnificent gardens of the Blarney Estate or take a stroll along the lovely Lake Walk. We also go to the Witches Cave in the castle grounds before getting plenty of time to shop at the Blarney Woollen Mills and craft shop, which is tax-free. This tour’s entrance fee (EUR 13.00) is included in the bill.
Cork and Blarney Castle Day Tour from Dublin with Rock of Cashel ends in Dublin approx. 20:00 in time for evening entertainment.
