Christchurch Sightseeing Day Tour With Antarctic Centre From Akaroa

1 Day

See the city landmarks and the badly earthquake-damaged city center in Christchurch and have the best time with friends and fam! On a half-day city tour of Christchurch, see the great buildings, stunning gardens, and picturesque observation points. Wander the Monavale Gardens, which have lovely ponds and water features, and drive through the city center, which has been seriously damaged and destroyed by the earthquake that struck the city in February 2011.

Witness the destruction of the core city as well as the ongoing reconstruction. You’ll go to the botanical gardens in the heart of the city and to Sumner, a beach neighborhood. Admire the stunning views of the Canterbury Plains and Southern Alps from the Sign of the Takahe. Following that, the group visits the International Antarctic Centre.

This includes a snow and ice experience, a blue penguin encounter, a 4-D movie experience, and an adrenaline Hagglund ride that recreates the atmosphere of Antarctica. The penguins kept here are rescued and cared for birds, some of them have been with us since they were babies. Many of them would not have survived in the wild on their own due to physical defects that rendered them defenseless.
