Itinerary

Day 1: Arrival to Cusco

Qorikancha

Cusco City Tour Half-Day Including Four Ruins, Cathedral and Qorikancha

This morning will be spent sleeping or having leisure time. We’ll spend the day in the Inka Museum, which houses thousands of years of Andean history.

We’ll learn more about the origins and beginnings of Andean civilizations here. Continuing our journey, we will visit Koricancha Temple, the famed Sun Temple of Qosqo, which was and still is the apex of Inca civilization’s organization, architecture, and religion.

They had already made the greatest accomplishments of their time during its construction, and this temple may have been an exact replica of the center, or “Navel of the Globe,” and hence the center of the world, as mandated by pre-Hispanic Andean cosmovision.

Day 2: Saqsayhuaman – Temple of the moon – transfer to Aguas Calientes

Sacred Valley of the Incas

Our day will begin with a journey to Saqsayhuaman. This Inka building, with its magnificent attributes and huge stones, is regarded as one of the greatest structures ever built on the face of the Earth in human history. We’ll then proceed to the Temple of the Moon, a place of spiritual connection and interaction with the Moon Goddess’s feminine energy. Our last destination will be Qenqo. In the afternoon, we will travel by automobile to the town of Ollantaytambo, where we will board a train to Machu Picchu (Aguas Calientes).

Day 3: Machupicchu – Ollantaytambo

Today, we will rise early for breakfast and travel to Machupicchu’s Inka citadel to watch the sunrise in this wonderful spot, a legendary masterpiece of architecture and engineering that is thought to have served as a santuary and energizing center. UNESCO has designated Machu Picchu as one of the world’s seven wonders and a World Heritage Site. Optional: A 2-hour round-trip journey to Huaynapicchu’s top, a strenuous climb on rocky slopes with amazing ruins and spectacular views.

Day 4: Moray – Salt mines – Chinchero (textile interpretation center)

We’ll go to Moray in the morning, a historic structure built for agricultural research and study of various crops at various elevations. The many concentric “rings” of terraces provide a narrow gradient of micro-climates here; the warmth of the lowest center ring gradually dissipates as the rings ascend outward and above, causing temperature drops until they approach the ground-level norm.

Maras,Salt Mines & Moray with Chinchero

When you’ve finished touring Moray, head to the Maras salt mines, which are around 2 miles distant. This hamlet is famous for being a former salt-producing center that dates back to pre-Inca times. Over 3000 salt pools have been cut into the mountainside and are replenished everyday by a little stream of water.

Chinchero is the last stop on the tour. The well-preserved Inka walls of the main square, as well as the numerous altars, may be seen here. We’ll also pay a visit to the lovely colonial church, which is notable for its interior artwork and iconography.

Moving on, we’ll take part in a beautiful introduction and learning experience of the craft of Andean textiles; throughout the day, we’ll learn about the knowledge of Andean weavings, which has been passed down since long before the Inka era. We will have a buffet supper with music, a show, and traditional dances in the evening.

Day 5: Fly To Lima

Alejandro Velasco Astete Cusco International Airport (CUZ)
Transfer to the airport.

This ends our Amazing 5-Day Cusco and Machu Picchu Tour.
