Depart north down the spectacular California Coast to Santa Barbara’s first stop. Visit a Spanish mission and learn how important these religious outposts were to the growth of the region as a whole. Go on to Solvang, a cozy Danish town for small shops to browse. We travel north to the world-famous 17-mile drive (part of route # 1) where we get close to the beautiful coastline of California. Upon our tour we tour the actor Clint Eastwood’s home town of Carmel. Enjoy some free time to stroll around town before heading for overnight into Silicon Valley.
Today we understand why San Francisco is one of the world’s prettiest cities. We begin our tour at Fisherman’s Wharf with a cruise in the world-renowned harbor, under the Golden Gate Bridge and around the infamous Alcatraz Island. Head to Pier 39 for a leisurely lunch before an afternoon tour taking in all of the city’s famous sights, including the Golden Gate Bridge, Union Square, Chinatown and Nob Hill.
Our tour finishes with a night view from the Bay Bridge over the area.
Summer Route: We travel east to Yosemite National Park through the Joaquin Valley farmlands. Set in the Sierra Nevada, this 1,200 square mile wonderland of trees, lakes and waterfalls. Stop at El Capitan, Bridal-Veil Falls, and Half Dome to start for a walk from the Yosemite Visitor Center to meet one of North America’s highest waterfalls, Yosemite Falls (730 metres).
Winter Route: We start the day with a Monterrey tour to include the Cannery Row and the Wharf. After our tour we leave for a visit to the world-famous Hearst Castle in the south. Built by the newspaper baron William Randolph Hearst, visit the famous house packed with antiques and see why for the first half of the 20th century the castle served as a playground for the wealthy and famous. Drive south toward Las Vegas in the evening.
Today’s itinerary is east through the desert and Death Valley to get to the world’s gambling capital: Las Vegas. At the Barstow outlet mall, which is packed with all the popular brand names like, Levi’s, Nike, Reebok, Timberland and more, we stop for lunch.
In the evening we take a strip tour to see some of the very beautiful hotels and fantasies that are constructed in the middle of the desert, including Caesar’s Palace, Mirage, Luxor, Paris, New York New York, Treasure Island and more. Complete the evening at one of the many shows or try your hand at one of the many casinos that will smile on you tonight, who knows maybe lady luck.
We leave Las Vegas after a leisurely breakfast and make our way to the Hoover Dam, understand how this man made phenomenon was created and what it did to the city. Following our visit we head west, we cross back into California following one last shot at the slot machines on the state line. Our tour ends with a Los Angeles arrival.
