Choose from a variety of daily departures and then travel to Reykjavik Old Harbour to meet your guide and captain. Pull on your provided overalls and safety gear and board your RIB speedboat after a quick safety briefing. Hold on tight as your captain takes you out of the harbor, and keep an eye out for some of Faxaflói’s famous species.
During the mating season, from May until the end of August, loop around the bay’s wind-beaten islets to observe puffins in their native habitat, and then venture out on the open water to spy out the spectacular whales and dolphins. On your way back to the harbor, take a cruise along Reykjavik’s coastline and take in the scenery from the water.
The cityscape in this part of town is made up of colorful fishing huts and bustling eateries, as well as some thought-provoking sights. Enjoy seeing Jón Gunnar Arnason’s Sun Voyager sculpture and the Harpa Concert Hall, a gleaming glass structure claimed to be inspired by Iceland’s volcanic nature.
