A one-day pass to one of the leading Hop-on – Hop-off operators in Washington DC is included in the tour. From 9 am to 5 pm, the tour provides you with unrestricted access to the service, giving you the flexibility to explore the Capital of the Nation at your leisure. The Hop-on – Hop-off Tour involves 16 stops at the key attractions of the Capitals, including the Ford Theatre, the White House, the Lincoln Monument, and the Jefferson Memorial.
You will enjoy a full-day trip to Old Town Alexandria, Mount Vernon of George Washington, and Arlington National Cemetery on the second day. As you board your luxurious motor coach for a day packed with American history dating back to the American Colonial Period, your journey begins. Once on board, we will leave the Capital of the Nation for Virginia, where we will commence our adventure with a visit to Alexandria’s Old Town!
Old Town Alexandria played a major role in early American history, dating back to the early 1700s. It is mainly remembered, however, for being the adopted hometown of George Washington, the first President of America. We will provide a thorough overview of the historical facts of the area, and show you its paved streets lined with historical buildings. We’ll visit Christ Church, where George Washington and Robert E. Lee both attended services on a regular basis.
We will depart for George Washington’s Mount Vernon after visiting the Old Town of Alexandria. The 10-mile ride to the former estate of George Washington will take you along the scenic Potomac River, where you will discover the significance it had during the period, all while enjoying some of the scenery of the regions and places such as the 200-year-old Fort Washington.
You can gain entry to the estate once at Mount Vernon. A host of colonial-era houses, beautiful gardens, and a working distillery and gristmill are part of the entrance to the Mount Vernon grounds. The Museum and Education Center of the Estate includes hundreds of artifacts, films, a 4D theatre, and an immersive theatre that introduces the real George Washington to visitors.
We will begin the journey to the hallowed grounds of Arlington National Cemetery after exploring the grounds of George Washington’s Mount Vernon. On a 600-acre tract of land that once belonged to George Washington ‘s step-grandson, George Washington Parke Custis, Arlington National Cemetery is located. Custis left the property in 1857 to his daughter, Mary Anna Randolph Custis, where it became her and her husband, Robert E. Lee,’s family home.
Arlington National Cemetery has been the final place of rest for more than 400,000 active duty service members, veterans, and their families after the first military burial on May 13, 1864. The Arlington Cemetery Tour by Gray Line includes admission and an interpretative tour of the grounds with stops near the Kennedy tombs and the Unknown Soldier’s Tomb, where you can witness the changing of the guard ceremony.
The National Cemetery of Arlington is an eternal memorial to those who have devoted their lives to preserving our nation’s values. A visit here will leave your spirit with an indelible memory.
