The Hualapai tribe owns and operates the West Rim of the Grand Canyon, which is far less known but provides many uniquely spectacular views and activities. The Hualapai Indians have made it easier to visit the West Rim of the Grand Canyon, which has fewer known landmarks but contains numerous remarkable scenic views and fun activities.
Some notable sights and attractions that are within the Hualapai area of Grand Canyon West include the Grand Canyon Skywalk, a cable suspended bridge with amazing views of the Grand Canyon. The Hoover Dam is a concrete arch-gravity dam in the Black Canyon of the Colorado River, which is located on the border between the U.S. states of Nevada and Arizona. The structure was built between 1931 and 1936 during the Great Depression and was dedicated on September 30, 1935, by President Franklin D. Roosevelt.
Its construction was the result of an enormous effort that involved thousands of workers, and it came at the cost of over a hundred lives. In 1933, Boulder Dam was originally called Hoover Dam because it was built under President Herbert Hoover’s administration. After being renamed, it was officially given Hoover Dam’s current moniker by a joint resolution of Congress in 1947.
Itinerary
Day 1 LOS ANGELES – LAS VEGAS
Outlets at Barstow
Today’s route is east through the desert and Death Valley to arrive at the gambling capital of the world: Las Vegas. We stop for lunch at the outlet mall in Barstow, which is filled with all the famous brand names like, Levi’s, Nike, Reebok, Timberland, Ralph Lauren and more.
The Strip
In the evening we take a tour of the strip to see some of the truly amazing hotels and fantasies that are built in the middle of the desert, such as Caesar’s Palace, Luxor, Mirage, Paris, Venetian, Bellagio, New York New York, Treasure Island and more. Finish off the evening at one of the many shows or try your hand at one of the many casinos’, who knows maybe lady luck will be smiling on you tonight.
Day 2 LAS VEGAS – HOOVER DAM – LOS ANGELES
Hoover Dam
After a leisurely breakfast we leave Las Vegas and make our way to the Hoover Dam, understand how this man made phenomenon was built and what it did to the area.
Hoover Dam Bypass
The Mike O’Callaghan–Pat Tillman Memorial Bridge spans the Colorado River between the states of Arizona and Nevada. After our visit we head west, after one last chance at the slot machines on the state line we cross back into California. The tour ends with an afternoon arrival in Los Angeles.
