Uffizi Gallery
The Uffizi Gallery in Florence, Italy, occupies entirely the first and second floors of the large building designed by Giorgio Vasari between 1560 and 1580.
It is known throughout the world for its excellent collections of ancient sculptures and paintings (from the Middle Ages to the Modern Period).
There are some absolute masterpieces in the collections of paintings from the 14th and Renaissance periods: Giotto, Simone Martini, Piero della Francesca, Beato Angelico, Filippo Lippi, Botticelli, Mantegna, Correggio, Leonardo, Raffaello, Michelangelo and Caravaggio, as well as many valuable works by European painters (mainly German, Netherlands and Flemish).
