Palazzo Vecchio
Palazzo Vecchio (The Old Palace) is today Florence’s City Hall. It was designed as the Palazzo del Popolo, or People’s Palace, at the very end of the 13th century.
Palazzo della Signoria was the original name of the palace, which was changed to Palazzo Vecchio when the Medici court moved to the Pitti Palace. Palazzo Vecchio currently houses the Museo dei Ragazzi, in addition to the Town Hall’s offices and the Cinquecento Hall, which is still in use for special audiences and events.
