Chicago Route 66 Tour

U.S. Route 66 was one of the original highways in the U.S., nicknamed Mother Road. The system of the highway. Starting from Chicago, the highway ran all the way to Santa Monica, California, covering a total of 3,940 km (2,448 miles).

We will visit the Adams Street and Michigan Avenue crossing for the first time, which is the starting point for Route 66. Then we’ll have breakfast at Lou Mitchell’s (admission not included), also known as the “first stop on Mother Road.” Since 1949, the restaurant has maintained its original decoration so you can feel the classic golden age of Route 66.

Then we will stop at Joliet and visit the Old Joliet Prison Park where Prison Break was made for the famous TV series.

We will then visit Pontiac, another important Route 66 destination. We will have a guided museum tour through which you can understand the Mother Road in depth.

The tour will be guided by the staff of the city and will include Route 66 Hall of Fame (admission not included, the largest collection of Route 66 Memorabilia in Illinois), the Pontiac Oakland Automobile Museum (one of Pontiac’s largest and most extensive collection in the world) and the Gilding Arts Museum (store signs on Route 66 used to be made of gold! Here you can also learn how to make gold leaf).

We will go back to Chicago in the evening.
