Yosemite Falls is among the tallest waterfalls in North America, with a height of almost 2,425 feet (730 meters). Peak flow occurs in May, but the river is active from about November through July.

During the winter, the ice cone at the upper fall’s base is a sight to behold, and the roaring runoff may be heard between April and June. Upper Yosemite Fall (1,430 ft.), intermediate cascades (675 ft.), and Lower Yosemite Fall (320 ft.) make up the entirety of Yosemite Falls. Many locations in Yosemite Valley, including Yosemite Village and Yosemite Valley Lodge, have excellent views of Yosemite Falls.

Yosemite Private 2-Day Tour Package+Hotel:Waterfalls,Giant Sequoias+Glacier PtIt’s a challenging 8-hour trek to the top of Yosemite Falls, but the rewarding vistas are well worth the effort. You can get the nicest views in the first two miles and then turn around and head back to the valley bottom. Don’t forget the hat, sunscreen, and drink if you decide to keep going. The trail to Yosemite Falls is full of twists and turns, but it offers little cover in the hot summer months.

The best views of Yosemite Falls may be had from Yosemite Valley Lodge and Yosemite Village. Lower Yosemite Fall is accessible by a mile-long circle walk that offers unparalleled scenery. In the spring and early summer, you will be so near that you could even get wet! Accessible from shuttle stop #6 to the waterfall’s base on the loop’s eastern side. Hikers with sufficient strength and experience can spend a whole day climbing to the top of Yosemite Falls.
