Part of the most well-known archipelago in Argentina, Tierra del Fuego National Park is located in the country’s southwestern point. Tierra del Fuego is the final national park in Argentina before reaching Antarctica. Ushuaia, the city, is located 18 kilometres east.

When the park was established in 1960, it was with the intention of safeguarding the few remaining sub-Antarctic forests. The Beagle Channel serves as a natural delineator between the two regions in the south, with only the southern section being open to tourists. The landscape varies from beach to jungle to grassland.

Located on the island of Tierra del Fuego, the park has an area of 243 square miles (630 square kilometres).

Along its boundary with Chile, the park is located around 37 miles (60 km) north of the Beagle Channel. Both the railway and the car offer access to the park, which serves as the southernmost terminus for both modes of transportation. The well-known “End of the World” train stops at the El Parque station.

Even though it was not the country’s first national park, it was the first coastal protected area that was established as a national park. The Patagonia region and the subantarctic forest are both protected by a number of national parks, of which this is one.

Along with the austral parakeet, Patagonian woodpecker, blackish oystercatcher, kelp goose, Magellanic oystercatcher, and torrent duck, the Andean Condor is one of the most well-known birds in the world. Other notable birds of interest are the kelp goose and the Magellanic oystercatcher.

Crabs, South American sea lions, sardines, scallops, Falkland sprat, and jellyfish are some of the aquatic creatures that can be found here. Most people are familiar with penguins, albatrosses, and petrels when they think about seabirds.
